Elevation

Formed by two mountainous regions - the Allegheny Mountains and the Pittsburgh Plateau - Fayette County’s highest point is 2993 feet above mean sea level at Chestnut Ridge. The lowest altitude is in Point Marion, on the Monongahela River near the southern border of Pennsylvania at 740 feet above mean sea level.
